“Let me get you a nice cup of tea/life/ “Tea Party”
Colonialism had an incredible record of estate economies like cotton, indigo, elastic, sugar, tea and tobacco. The East India Company has had a contribution to Tea’s Popularity. Now Tea is the second most consumed drink after water around the globe. In the early modern period, tea was a satisfactorily appealing product to draw a consideration around the globe to China, and sufficiently appealing to motivate other countries to endeavor to develop it themselves in their different settlements. The English, Dutch, and Russians expended the drink in mass amounts, and every one of them pursued this example.
Tea began in China. At first England imported tea as a medicine. Generally, tea utilized by Buddhist and Taoist priests as a reflection help because of its strengthening impacts. Then it turned out as a fascinating refreshment and become a drinking propensity. The British, doing what colonials do, identified the capability of Indian fields for developing tea. In the 1830’s the main tea state set up in the Indian province of Assam and developed imported Chinese tea plants. The British Empire deliberately control Indian fields and created incomes by selling tea delivered by work and land. England’s East India Company domination made an imposing business model over the tea exchange, which radically expanded the British power. British tea imports from India were higher than from China by 1888.
British played a role to serve tea and change the culinary. According to history, tea met sugar, forming a power couple that altered the course of history. The growing taste for sweetened tea also helped fuel one of the worst blights on human history and day by day it became a cultural identity in Asia, especially in Bangladesh – India. Now it becomes a heritage and well manner in Asian culture.
Evening tea was a significant meal in Asia, England, the Netherlands, and English America. Women in Bangladesh hoarded the beverage and managed the tea custom, which united families and gave chances to show children about norm and to exhibit the decency and good manners that were fundamental to status in the new social request. The tradition of drinking “tea” beats all boundaries of the sub-continent. At railway, bus stations and roadside shops are renowned for drinking tea and become a main place to interact with each other. The local tea stall becomes the witness of all the happy and sad events of the area. This process of consumerism began and flooded into homes. Over time, the custom of drinking tea became our very own tradition.
At present milk and sugar became a famous mix-up with tea in Bangladesh and India. Also, a very intention that now people mix more spices like cinnamon, cardamoms, and ginger too. It calls masala chai; in Bangladesh, what I discovered that tea also got so many variations like chili chai, mint cha, tamarind (tetul) cha, and so many experimental tea you can get on the street in the country. It becomes a signature of our culture.
For this work, I will arrange a tea party in the open space, this will be a performance process, and I will follow the British colonized afternoon tea rules. British have built a splendid ceremony around what they call “the afternoon tea”. Here comes the next calamity of the British, which is flooding their wretched tea with milk and sugar. In addition, I will try to make different types of tea, for example; green tea, black tea and oolong tea (a dark-colored China tea made by fermenting the withered leaves to about half the degree usual for black teas.). I also use my own method for preparing tea along with other companies’ tea. I want to hold a traditional tea party. A traditional tea party is a perfect setting for an afternoon event that requires some formality, such as a manner and attitude. Tea will be served in a traditional chines cup and saucer with other snacks. It became a part of our route. The main objective of this work is to bring together to all. “A cup of tea” is traditionally produced is a moment of celebration, moments of sadness, moments of reducing stress, the moment of relief from confusion, it brings close to all people, it brings a moment of life and we are planning to change the world over cups of tea. Whenever there are more than two people in the room, one is invariably going to ask, “put the kettle on.” So I want to touch the moment in the mood of way canonize style. I would like to invite the peoples as my guest having a cup of tea with me, which bring life for all. In a process of my performance, we will talk on so many issues, like; social, personal life, political, professional life and tea history now and in colonialism period. The costume, tablecloth, other things, and whole arrangements will customize by myself through waving.
Even I would like to produce various types of tea by myself. Like jasmine, roses, jute leaf tea, olive leaf tea, orange tea and I am planning that these tealeaves will produce by myself at home (homemade tea) and I would like to serve through performance. It will depend on what kind of tea my guest would like to have.
